Frequently asked questions

When do you ship orders?

Shipping dates are scheduled every other Monday unless otherwise announced. This helps avoid fish getting stuck in transit over weekends

I do not ship on holiday weekends.

What shipping methods do you offer?

I currently offer Overnight Shipping and 2–3 Day Shipping depending on location and weather conditions.

Do you offer local pickup?

Yes. Local pickup is available in the Raleigh, NC area. Please email BeasBettas@gmail.com after purchase to arrange pickup details.

Are your bettas imported?

No. All bettas sold through Bea’s Bettas are home-bred from my personal spawn projects.

What does “hybrid” mean?

My betta fish come from lines of Wild Spadetail, Wild Breeds, and Plakats. They have been mixed together to create genetic diversity that hopefully creates healthier fish.

What happens if my fish arrives dead or sick?

Please review the DOA and Sick Arrival Policies below and contact me within 20 minutes of delivery with timestamped photos of the unopened bag.

DOA Policy

In the rare event that a betta passes away during shipping, please follow the steps below.

  1. Take a timestamped photo of the betta in the unopened bag within 20 minutes of delivery.  Please make sure the lighting clearly shows the betta in the bag.
  2. Email BeasBettas@Gmail.com with the time you received the package and shipping number.
  3. Report any damage to the shipping box and bag.

Shipping is non refundable, but I will work with you to either refund the cost of the betta or send a new fish.  You will have to pay for shipping a second time.

Sick Arrival Policy

In the rare event that a betta arrives sick or ailing, please follow these steps

  1. Get a reading of the temperature in the bag.  Sometimes heat injury can happen if left in the sun or on a hot delivery vehicle for too long.
  2. Place the betta in a shallow container with conditioned water.  Place the container in a tank or on a heat mat so they can be kept at 80°.
  3. Add tannins to the water.
  4. Email BeasBettas@Gmail.com to report the illness or injury and discuss further treatment options.
